Oxbrook Barn Conversion

Oxbrook Barn

A refined Class Q barn conversion that elevates agricultural simplicity through contemporary design

This Class Q barn conversion reimagines an existing agricultural structure as a refined, modern dwelling, retaining its simple linear form while introducing a warm, material-led architectural language. Vertical timber cladding and a crisp standing-seam roof reference the barn’s agricultural origins, while subtle detailing and proportion elevate the overall design.

Generous glazing and sliding doors open the living spaces onto a wraparound timber deck, creating a strong indoor–outdoor relationship and allowing the home to sit lightly within its landscaped setting. Deep roof overhangs provide sheltered external areas for dining and relaxation, extending the living space into
the garden throughout the year.

The design carefully balances openness and privacy, maximising views while maintaining a calm, understated presence. This project exemplifies GPW Architects’ approach to Class Q conversions, delivering bespoke, high-quality homes that celebrate rural character through thoughtful, contemporary design.
